Frostmourne & Death Knight runesword

HI ppl. It's my first post here, and I'm sharing these ones, hope you like it.

The WOTLK brought a lot of improvements to the game, including better graphics, and I'm working a lot to make paper models from some characters - they're a lot harder than the old ones - including Arthas, that will take some time to appear on this page.

The Frostmourne is not an easy one, full of details and small pieces, so I had to make it a 70 cm (27") model.

The Runesword is that one we start the game with (i.e. in SW / ORG); sorry, no frost spell effects :D but there are 5 colors included.

UPDATED: There was a problem with page 6 of Frostmourne. There are some loose parts in the piece that connects to the sword's handle. Pepakura shows them as separated parts, but you must just cut it out as an entire piece, and follow its position in the 3D window to locate where to glue it. Many thanks to Handsomy for the advice, I hope you all can build it mor easily now. The same part was wrong in the life-sized model too, and has been updated, so please download it again and print the pages 6 and 10 for Frostmourne, and pages 31 and 33 for the life-sized Frostmourne.

Download (Mediafire):

Frostmourne (PDO + PDF)

DK sword (PDO + PDF) (pdf: black skin only)

...and for the most hardcore fans there's a real-sized Frostmourne I've made for myself (it's the same size of the replica sold by Epic Weapons), the "beta" project is a little (lot) messy but... why not sharing it?

You write alot more than I do :P

...indeed, and it took a lot of space in the page... :S I'll resume the next posts...

and... merry Xmas :D

Hey, it's ok, don't resume and write alot, it will force me to get even :P

Frostmourne needs a password, whats that?

Barbarian said...

mmm I didn't set a pass in the rar... try downloading it again; when a file is not completely downloaded, Winrar/Winzip don't "understand" what's happening and asks you a password.

and really, Badongo is opening nasty pop-ups, zshare is bugged (you must click download many times to get the file), so avoid them for the moment.

Life size frostmourne:
The extracted pdo file asks for password O_O' Upload it again dude becouse this is unusable

Barbarian said...

Does it ask for password for opening or editing? There is no pass to open the pdo (Pepakura Designer can only set a pass for EDITING). But there IS a pass to edit it, and if that is the case, sorry. I think that if someone knows how to edit a model he should know how to make one himself - i.e. rip the model from the game files, extract the textures, unfold it without overlaps, this king of stuff. As stated before by bro PMF, it won't change, and if there's a problem with the model just warn us and we'll remake it. The life-sized Frostmourne is just a "beta" model just made for fun, it's really messy, and if ppl wants it to be better, just ask and I'll redo the entire work. For now, I think that sometimes the files are being downloaded corrupt, so please download it again from another server, try another browser, etc, and I'll upload it again ASAP after these goddamn holiday festivities coz I'm not at home at this moment.

BTW, thanks to all for being here with us, wish u a Happy New Year :)

I tried Frostmourne PDO (not real-sized) .
In 6/16 page, it has some strange part.

The rightest part (just I thought) has some errors.

It has 4 parts??? I can't connect it with 9 and 13page parts.

Please explain how to paste it.
Thanks for your PDO files.

Sorry for the mess... I know it is kinda strange... look at this image:

http://taverna.do.barbaro.googlepages.com/strangepart.jpg

I think it's the part you're talking about, viewing from above (the hilt end). Sometimes when we rip the model from the game, there are some parts in the original 3D model that are simply loose, not connected to others (almost all bird wings for an example :S ). In Pepakura we can put a flap on it to be possible for us to build it, but Pepakura does not point the connection for us in this case.

The parts it connects to are shown in this second image:

I hope the images can help you.

Don't forget to send us a photo of your finished model!

I asked before 6/16 page the rightest parts.

Because of my poor English, I can't explain my proposal.
So I link some pictures to explain.

I think that these 5 parts are not properly unfold.

http://dalhee.wowdns.com/paper/6page-2.png
http://dalhee.wowdns.com/paper/6page-3.png
http://dalhee.wowdns.com/paper/6page-4.png
http://dalhee.wowdns.com/paper/6page-5.png

I think that these 5 parts are 1 piece. I knew that the bold line means cut line.
But 6page-4.png has wrong pattern. Red lined part is needed to be rotated.

Look my fixed picture.

Sometimes these pictures may be not shown, or very too slowly be shown.
Because they are in my private server. :)

I wish that this piece will be fixed, so I can make a life-size frostmourne more easily.

And....It's a my first frostmourne photo.

Wow!! Nice work, Handsomy!

And VERY VERY THANKFUL for your help. That loose tiny parts are really a pain in the ***

I'll fix the model and repost it - now with a Mediafire mirror, coz many ppl are having trouble with that Sharebee links. So please dragoonslayerck sorry for this, just wait for me to repair the post...

Sadly, a lot of models have that loose parts, maybe Blizz designers are lacking patience to keep the faces properly connected, so they make "patches" to fill the gaps... The loose parts will still be loose, but at least will be on the right position :S

Barbarian said...

Well... updated at last. Included some guidelines for the troublesome piece. Please download it again and print the fixed pages, and warn me about any other errors so I 'll try to fix it as possible.

Hi,
Im having some trouble with the (life sized verzion) of Frostmourne. When i clicked on the link you had to download it, it took me to MediaFire.com which im not even sure thats the right place:(. Then when i clicked on the download button it asked me whare i wanted to save the file. after the download i whent and clicked on the file and it said it could not run because it did not know who created it. Can anyone help, im so confused:( all i whant are the print out sheets for the real life sized frostmourne.if anyone could help that would be great. Thx :)

PMF said...

If the problem is with the archive file, you need something like winrar or winzip to open it.

If the problem is with Pepakura, you need Pepakura Viewer and not Designer. Beside that, Barbarian could give you a better answer...

thx

Tier 2 paladin set brings back some great memories...

Barbarian said...

HGO8 you need 2 softwares installed: Pepakura viewer and Winrar (or winzip, 7zip, whatever). Maybe the file you just downloaded is corrupted, try downloading it again.

Hope it helps...

what format of paper do you print this on?

Andrew O said...

I'm in the final stages of building my 70 cm version of Frostmourn; but before I put the hilt on, how would you suggest using the wooden stick or rolled up paper to strengthen it?

Do you mean one large stick from top to bottom? As for paper, do you mean trying to fill it completely with the paper?

hey im sorry but i wanted to download the big one but i only got the pdo and no lik adobe file :s
can anyone explain please?

Hello!

Can you suggest me the best choice of paper?
Card Stock? 180-230gr normal paper?

Can i pr9int the models with a normal inkjet printer?

What kind of glue you suggest to use?

Sorry for so much questions but i want become a Lich King xD

Unknown said...

Is there any chance of getting it made on letter size paper besides just A4 size?

PMF said...

Nat: I don't think we will, but i'm sure your printer can adjust the size to fit on letter paper. It will just be a little smaller.

Unknown said...

printing it out on letter instead of A4 increases the size of the finished papercraft. It almost doubles in size :(

PMF said...

Letter format is wider than A4, but it's also shorter on length and thus, the prints can only be smaller when your printer make one fit into the other.

A4 : 210.0mm x 297.0mm (8.26" x 11.69")
Letter : 215.9mm x 279.4mm (8.50" x 11.00")
